Foundations Portfolio Review
About the Portfolio Review
The objective of the Foundations Portfolio Review is to determine whether a student possesses the basic aptitudes to succeed in a bachelor's program in the Department of Visual Arts. All art students in undergraduate programs of study should strive to pass Foundations Portfolio Review between 30-45 credit hours at ǧÃŬAV.
Students seeking the following degrees are required to pass a portfolio review.
- Art Pathway (A.A.)
- Studio Art (B.A.)
- Art Major with Graphic Design Concentration (B.A.)
- Art Major with a Digital Arts Concentration (B.A.)
- Art Marketing (B.S.)
- Art Education (B.S.)
The portfolio also serves as an image archive for comparison and reflection throughout the degree program. A portfolio review is recommended by the , the institution accrediting ǧÃŬAV's Visual Arts bachelor-level programs.
The foundations portfolio is graded as either Pass or Fail. Students will be notified by ǧÃŬAV email about their Pass/Fail status within two weeks of the submission due date.
When Do I Submit my Foundations Portfolio?
All visual art majors pursuing the Art Pathway, B.A., or B.S. programs will no longer need to register for ART 2550 Foundations Portfolio Review starting Fall 2022. Instead, they must submit the Foundations Portfolio during the semester when they complete ART 1010 Drawing I, ART 1020 Two-Dimensional Design & Color, and ART 1030 Three-Dimensional Design by the due dates.
These courses need not be completed in the same semester and may be completed in any order.
It is the student's responsibility to ensure they have access to Digication before the due dates. For missing portfolios or accounts, the students are recommended to contact their instructor/advisor
Note: Students pursuing our Visual Arts minors are exempt from the Foundations Review.
Submission Deadlines
- Fall semester – October 31 at 11:59 p.m.
- Spring semester – March 31 at 11:59 p.m.
