Outgoing Transient Students
What does it mean to be a “Transient Student”?
If you are a current student seeking a degree with ǧĹAV and plan to attend another college or university to take a course/s to transfer back to ǧĹAV, you are considered a transient student at the other college/university.
How do I “Go Transient”?
Research the institution you are interested in to find out their application requirements for transient students. Most institutions will require a transient letter from ǧĹAV, which is requested through your Banner account. To be approved and issued a transient letter, you must be in good academic standing at ǧĹAV, have no outstanding Learning Support or ESL courses, and cannot have received Academic Renewal. You must communicate with your advisor to ensure that your course can be used within your degree at ǧĹAV.
To request your transient letter:
- Login to your
- Select the four-square icon on the top left of the page and choose the “Transient Request” option
- Select “Start a Transient Request”
- Choose the institution you will be attending
- Choose the course prefix/number of the course you will be completing*
- Submit
Our transient team will send your Transient Letter directly to the outside institution on your behalf.
Planning to Take a Course Not Listed in the Transient Request Tool
Email transient@ung.edu and provide the following information:
- Course Prefix/Course Number from the institution you are planning to attend
- Syllabus of the course
- This is a requirement of any upper-level course you are interested in transferring back
Note: Allow up to one week for review.
How to Receive Credit After Completing Transient Courses
When you have completed your transient coursework, you must request that an official transcript be sent from the outside institution to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
Electronic requests must be sent to Undergraduate Admissions transcript server or admissions-gvl@ung.edu, regardless of your ǧĹAV campus designation.

Once your outside credits have been evaluated, you will receive an email to your ǧĹAV email account.
