6.16 Links - Proof Point or CTA (Calls-To-Action)

The 'Links - Proof Point or CTA' block can be very visually powerful and should be used with care.

Proof points provide a visually interesting way to present important facts about the site in an easy to absorb fashion -- i.e., no reading. Studies show that most website visitors only skim a web page and don't read all the text. However, proof points do have strict character limit counts so need to be limited to small chunks of information.

Calls to Action are an extremely important part of a web page, especially your home page.  They provide direction to the page visitor, giving a clear route to accomplishing the next step in a goal. When creating your calls to action, consider what it is you want the visitor to do next and help them get there.

Best Usages

  • Large Proof Points: Concise facts with numbers work best with Large Proof Points. See Quick Reference below for character limits.
  • Small Proof Points:  Presenting very important short pieces of text. See Quick Reference below for character limits.
  • Call-to-Action Buttons: Use short, descriptive text with action words - 20 character limit
  • Call-to-Action Links: Works better for calls to action of secondary importance on a page - 15 characters per line

Example
