Overview

Paul Dunlap teaches Photography and Senior Capstone Exhibition on the Dahlonega Campus. The photography program Paul helps to oversee covers 35mm black and white film, wet darkroom, the digital darkroom, large format camera, studio lighting, alternative photographic processes and 19th century photographic processes. Paul earned his BA in Studio Art from North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega, GA in 2001 and his MFA in Photography from the University of Georgia in 2004. He joined the faculty of the Department of Visual Arts since completing his graduate degree. Dunlap also serves as Accreditation Coordinator, handling the Department of Visual Art's accreditation with the National Association of Schools of Art & Design (N.A.S.A.D).

His personal creative interests are focused on Appalachian Studies and photographing the region through alternative photographic processes where he blends the use of traditional film with contemporary digital approaches. Dunlap has exhibited his work throughout the Southeast and in national television media outlets like CNN, and After Ellen. In addition his work has been published in magazines such as The Advocate, American Life and Black & White, and Rolling Stone.
