Overview

Craig Marshal Wilson is an Associate Professor of Art at the University of North Georgia. He received his BFA at the University of Georgia, Athens and his MFA at the University of Maryland, College Park. He specializes in teaching the foundation courses of art and design. In addition to teaching, Professor Wilson is an academic advisor and the Foundations Coordinator.

Professor Wilson believes that all great artistic content comes from good research. Deep inquiry always begins with a passionate desire to know and communicate a subject more intimately. His teaching philosophy is focused on guiding his students to think of art as a tool for this kind of engaged exploration. He hopes his students will learn that the creative process is and rigorous and rich method for expanding their awareness regarding whatever it is that drives their curiosity. And, crucially, that the objects produced are powerful tools for conveying the core values of the artist. His own art follows this same approach. His desire is to know his faith tradition in a deeper way. He uses his art to achieve this, and to share that knowledge with others.
