Tutoring Services Video Transcript

Simon Sisler: I first got involved in Tutoring Services my freshman year where I started going there as a student.

Adrian Segovia: It was a summer. I was just in the math lab, going in there to get help on some of my calculus homework. By the end of the semester I felt like I understood the class. I applied to tutor, got the job, and it's been nice.

Corey Jenrette: Well our job is to help you. Whatever the student needs help on is what we will focus on.

Simon Sisler: The Tutoring Center offers services with writing, math, and science, and then there's online tutoring as well that can help with other topics.

Grace Ammons: I would highly recommend engaging with not just one tutor. It can help you in all areas of your classes because you get all kinds of different perspectives that way.

Corey Jenrette: Partially we're also there to kind of help you find out where your strengths lie and help you build on those and also help you recognize what you lack and how you can build on those things as well.

Adrian Segovia: Having students seeing the step-by-step process on how to work out a problem, it's an amazing resource.

Grace Ammons: Embracing the mentality that you always have something to learn is really important. I've learned that a lot from my tutoring experience.

Adrian Segovia: My goal is to help them understand the problem at least slightly better than when they came in.

Simon Sisler: We have all the topics you can need. It's very convenient. It is a free service.

Adrian Segovia: There's someone there that's always willing to help.

Grace Ammons: It's something that I would highly recommend to any student.

Corey Jenrette: It’s a great experience.

Simon Sisler: The benefits that I've seen at the Tutoring Center are gaining confidence in a topic, getting the help where it's needed, and leaving there knowing more than you did coming in.
