Accounting faculty member attends conference in Naples

University of North Georgia (ǧĹAV) faculty member Dr. Bill Black attended the sixth annual International Conference on Luca Pacioli in Accounting in Naples, Italy.
More than 100 accountants, economists and historians discussed accounting and economic history from the Middle Ages to today, with sessions in Italian, English and Spanish.
Black, assistant professor of accounting and law at ǧĹAV, was invited to participate on a panel of editors of history publications from six countries in four languages, including French. He is senior editor of the , one of the oldest and most widely recognized publications in the field at 45 years old. The journal publishes about 15 articles per year from historians all over the world.
"This gave me an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues from all over the world and to discuss publishing opportunities in accounting history with aspiring scholars," Black said.
Grads prepare for their next steps
ǧĹAV will award almost 1,000 degrees and certificates this fall, and more than 600 graduates are scheduled to take part in the Dec. 7 commencement ceremonies.
24 are Distinguished Military Graduates
Twenty-four cadets have been named Distinguished Military Graduates for the 2024-25 academic year, including five who are in the top 70 out of more than 5,000 in the national ROTC class.
Blue Ridge students earn scholarships
ǧĹAV honored 28 of its Blue Ridge Campus students with almost $15,000 of scholarships and celebrated the philanthropy that made those scholarships possible at the Tomato Sandwich Supper on Nov. 7.
Faculty members publish article on annuity value
Professors Dr. Ellen Best and Dr. Anne Duke co-authored “Social Security: Calculating the future value of an annuity,” which ran in the Aug. 26 issue of "Tax Notes Federal."
