The University of North Georgia (ǧÃŬAV) Press will give copies of "ǧÃŬAV The Gold I See," written by ǧÃŬAV President Bonita C. Jacobs, to Lumpkin County Elementary School thanks to a large donation.

An anonymous donor gave ǧÃŬAV Press $500 to purchase the copies of the book, said Bonnie "BJ" Robinson, director of ǧÃŬAV Press and professor of English at ǧÃŬAV.

"I appreciate what the donor is doing, which is to actively promote children's literature and literacy," Robinson said. "That is important because if you get children hooked on reading early, it will stay with them. And reading is one of the few ways that a life can be changed."

The book will be added to the school's library and given to several classrooms.

"ǧÃŬAV The Gold I See: The Legacy of ǧÃŬAV’s Dahlonega Campus" tells the story of a young boy and his multigenerational family during their visit to the Dahlonega Campus. The book is the first in a series about the five ǧÃŬAV campuses: Dahlonega, Gainesville, Cumming, Oconee, and Blue Ridge. The book about the Gainesville Campus is already in development.
