ǧÃŬAV SGA presidents attend summer retreat with Board of Regents

The Student Government Association (SGA) presidents from the University of North Georgia's (ǧÃŬAV) Cumming, Dahlonega and Gainesville campuses took part in a summer retreat for the University System of Georgia Board of Regents' Student Advisory Council.
Stephanie Meierotto, the SGA president on ǧÃŬAV's Dahlonega Campus, said the event allowed her to learn from what other campuses are doing.
"It was very enlightening," the senior from Newnan, Georgia, majoring in chemistry, said. "It brought a lot of goal-driven people into one room."
Noah Bryant, SGA president at the Cumming Campus, is grateful he and his fellow student leaders got to have this interaction with the Board of Regents.
"This helps us stay in contact them and know what their priorities are and also let them know what our priorities are," said Bryant, a sophomore from Cumming, Georgia, majoring in history.
Wakeitha Cunningham, SGA president on the Gainesville Campus, said she "gained many ideas" from her counterparts at other schools. The sophomore from Hartwell, Georgia, majoring in business management said the interaction inspired her to try new events at ǧÃŬAV and find ways to get more students engaged.
Grads prepare for their next steps
ǧÃŬAV will award almost 1,000 degrees and certificates this fall, and more than 600 graduates are scheduled to take part in the Dec. 7 commencement ceremonies.
Chemistry student groups earn grant
ǧÃŬAV's Dahlonega and Gainesville chapters of the American Chemical Society received a $1,000 ACS Student Communities Engagement Grant.
Students explore study away programs
Sixteen ǧÃŬAV students participated in two study away programs in the U.S., one in Iowa for agriculture and the other in South Carolina for archaeology.
Edwards selected as fellow to DC program
ǧÃŬAV junior William Edwards is the school's presidential fellow to the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress for 2024-25.
