Savannah Lappert first picked up a camera about five years ago, and photography has become something of a passion for her.

The University of North Georgia (ǧÃŬAV) freshman from Dacula, Georgia, has made thousands of images during that time and has entered some of the prints into several art shows. Although she has had some success entering her images in shows, until recently a prize-winning entry eluded her.

Lappert entered several images in the Tannery Row 2018 Spring Juried Art Exhibition in Buford, Georgia. One image, titled "Wonderland," made it into the 80-piece exhibition and was awarded third place.

"I am extremely honored to have been awarded third place," Lapper said. "Many of the other artists in this show are highly talented, and to be considered among them is truly phenomenal."

For her third-place finish, Lappert, a criminal justice major, received $100. She felt "Wonderland" worked well with the other works in the Tannery Row gallery.

"I wanted to evoke strong emotions with the lighting, mood and subject of the photo," Lappert said. "The overall image has an air of mystery to it that I thoroughly enjoy conveying in my photography."
