Research/Special Interests
Dr. Kurant is currently working on a book manuscript studying the unpublished novels of Mary Boykin Chesnut in relation to her revised Civil War diary. Her research interests particularly center on New Historicism and depictions of the South and the Civil War.

Dr. Kurant’s first publication was "The Power of Love: The Education of a Domestic Woman in Mary Boykin Chesnut’s Two Years” in The Southern Literary Journal 2 (Spring 2002).
